About Layers of Light
Layers of Lighgt embodies holistic, integrated living through strategic design. The home’s main floor flows naturally from one shared living space to another, offering formal living and dining areas that feed naturally into a comfortable great room with expansive outdoor access. The kitchen maximizes space and function with a cozy breakfast nook tucked into a U-shaped island, allowing occupants to cook, graze, and mingle in a shared space. A well-appointed butler’s pantry and full pantry allow for additional prep room and storage adjacent to the main kitchen. The family room expands entertaining capacity with a slide away corner that exits out to a covered and heated patio, functionally tripling the room’s capacity to host friends and family in all seasons.
Architect and homeowner worked meticulously to curate colors, materials, and fixtures that held true to the traditional East Coast shingle style while maintaining a contemporary edge. Grays, whites, and natural stone feature heavily inside and outside the home, allowing a consistent, calming experience throughout. Careful lighting design accentuates the beauty of each space and enables the home to adapt to each time of day and season.
