Cedar Haven was built on a property that once contained a log home. The owners were looking for a mountain-style home design that also had contemporary details. This resulted in a home that has a sculptural quality along with a spiral staircase and tapered posts that mirror a grove of trees. The use of stone and wood throughout the design helped to create that mountain home feel while many of the features inside, from the stairway to the light fixtures to the windows are very much contemporary in style. We like to call the Cedar Haven design rustic contemporary.
There are plenty of other features that you can implement into your mountain home design as well, of course. For example, if you want to design a luxurious bathroom space, consider a bathtub surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that allow you to take in the gorgeous mountain scenery around your home. Hang a chandelier from the ceiling to top off a bit of mountain home extravagance. Another great idea is to use exposed trusses to give your home a spacious feel. Install skylights to introduce as much natural light as possible. We also recommend using reclaimed wood for your interior, not only as a way to be environmentally-friendly, but also to help add character.
