Mediterranean Lake Front Homes

Mediterranean home designs evoke a sense of relaxation and family. Their traditional appeal and use of natural materials makes you feel more connected to nature and the world around you. At Gelotte Hommas Architecture, we enjoy the artistic appeal of Mediterranean homes, and we’re happy to share some design ideas used in our Sammamish Tuscan home.

The Sammamish Tuscan home is the prime example of a Mediterranean home.
  • Arched Entryways and Windows – Arches are common in traditional Roman architecture, so we use them in our Mediterranean designs to convey a traditional appeal. Arched windows complement the arched doorways and are large enough to let in plenty of light.
  • Stone Exterior Stairways – Creating a yard and pool area on several areas, which are connected by stone stairways, makes a home resemble a Tuscan villa. These stairways look lovely when carefully landscaped with lush greenery.
  • Wrought Iron Railings – In the interior of the home, an open stairway descending into the main living area is framed by a wrought iron railing. The open stairway makes the home feel larger and also lets you enjoy a beautiful view of your bottom floor as you descend the stairs.
  • High, Gabled Ceilings – Arched ceilings are a mainstay in Mediterranean homes. They create an airy appeal and give the natural light space to expand and envelop your room. Hanging plants can add a splash of color to high up on the walls.
  • Open Kitchens – Picture extravagant wooden cabinets wrapping around the entire kitchen, and a stone counter top that perfectly complements the stone floor and home exterior. A kitchen island lets the whole family cook together — a true Mediterranean activity.
