We’re already gearing up for the 20th annual Gingerbread Village!

We love the holidays. It’s true. We also are strong supporters of the Juvenile diabetes research foundation. So, obviously when the two are combined it’s  win-win!
Every year for the past 20 years the Sheraton in Seattle and the JDRF partner to present the annual Gingerbread Village. Last year was our first year participating, but we are all set to jump in again this year.

Generally how the event goes is; a theme is chosen, the team’s are formed and from there the competition is on! Voting for your favorite gingerbread house has always been a highlight of the event. Although the display is free to the general public, the Seattle Sheraton accepts donations throughout the event onsite on behalf of the Northwest JDRF chapter. All proceeds from the event go to the JDRF.

Last year the theme was Holiday Express, and Gelotte Hommas was on a team with the MBA of King & Snohomish counties. We designed and built the Gare Du Palais in Quebec, Canada.

This year the theme is Fairytale Castles. We are more than thrilled to be on a team with the MBA again, and we have been assigned Aladdin’s Castle!
The meeting’s have already started, and we could not be more excited!
We obviously can’t let you in on all the Team Aladdin secret’s, but a few might be ok.
Here is our initial sketch. Yep, you guessed it – the top is going to be golden. Also, we thought a live tiger would be super,  although we are not quiet sure how to accomplish that task. We are open to suggestions…
