From traditional English cottages to contemporary family homes to luxury garages, every home design project is a new exploration of the art of architecture. We recently published several new home designs to our collection. Here are four to explore.
Redmond Retreat
Close to the city yet in a world unto itself, Redmond Retreat merges beauty with functionality. Designed for a family and their four pets, the contemporary twist on a 1960s ranch house celebrates the land on which it sits. Stone, wood, and glass emerge from the hillside to form a warm shelter in the trees. The living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and rec room boast expansive windows with views into the forest. Quiet hallway nooks look out into the tree canopy, allowing residents to relax in the treetops with an enticing book. Other rooms connect directly with outdoor living spaces. Stone walls anchor the custom home’s interior and exterior, offering a sense of permanence and timelessness as the world outside evolves.
Ratio House
The Ratio Remodel proves a tired and dated home can be reinvigorated to become something remarkable. The remodel completely reimagined the existing kitchen, laundry and mudroom spaces, adding functionality and well-crafted detail to these spaces. Additional space and improved access to stunning views is provided by raising the old, low-slung roof lines to make way for a brand-new master suite and expanded entry. The new master suite is connected to a new covered outdoor entertaining area with a private deck. A custom water feature provides a calming Zen experience as guests arrive at the expanded entry and front door. The extensive use of natural stone in many textures, steel, and richly stained woods creates a warm inviting and simultaneously dynamic interior, highlighted by the owners’ collection of art.
English Country House
English Country Cottage so perfectly captures the character of its occupants. Inspired by the English craftsman style architecture of C.F.A. Voysey and propelled forward by the enthusiasm of our clients, the cottage brims with whimsy. Large gables dominate the facade and a charming, rounded window centers the design and invites natural light into the main living spaces. The light fixtures and metal detailing within the home were crafted by the homeowner after he took a decorative metal working class. Outside, a verdant garden surrounds the home, framing it in natural beauty. Decorative fossils and other sculptures create a sense of constant discovery and fill this idyllic cottage with unending personality.
Car Lodge
Our client—an enthusiastic collector of James Bond-esque cars—wanted a dedicated space for classic sports cars and the people who love them. Designed as a casual gathering place for the collector and his friends, the spacious, well-appointed garage features custom, epoxy-finished concrete flooring and linear lighting as a backdrop for the fleet. A “man cave” just off the garage provides an ideal place to relax and tell the story behind each car. Upstairs, a three bedroom and great room apartment ensures a comfortable living quarters for the collection’s caretaker.
