There are plenty of options when it comes to deciding on what kind of home design you are looking for. If you’re swinging towards a modern design, we recommend the prairie style home design. The prairie home style is often considered the first modern residential architecture style that predated the craftsman style. The first architects to develop the style focused on dismissing classicism and medieval styles in order to create something that was uniquely American. They certainly succeeded! One of the most famous designers of the prairie home style is Frank Lloyd Wright, who is one of (if not the) most famous architects in American history. Now that you know a little bit about the prairie home style, let’s take a look at our prairie house in Virginia as an example:
Surrounded by woods, we had plenty of space with which to work, which is perfect for modern residential architecture design since one of the most defining elements is its use of horizontal space. Our single-floor prairie home showcases an elegant design that makes use of simple and beautiful lines. We chose to use both colors and materials in the home’s design that would match the surrounding environment, such as the wood frames encasing all the windows and doors as well as the wood trim on the interior walls. This helped to provide the owners with a more relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. We used “Wisteria” detailing both indoors and outdoors in addition to tile work in the home’s showers to help provide a more playful nature to the design. We also made sure to incorporate plenty of tall windows to let in both the gorgeous view and plenty of sunlight.
